ARE YOU AN EMPLOYER OF CHOICE?

With an ever-competitive job market and declining rates of unemployment, remaining an employer of choice is crucial to attracting the most talented individuals in the market. An organisation's ability to remain adaptable and open to change is vital for attracting the newest generation of workers. Thus, presenting the problem; how does an organisation steeped in processes and procedures remain flexible to the demands of Gen Z and, is it worth yielding to their demands?

The information contained within this webpage, explores the necessity to modernise recruitment methods and change recruitment from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. By adopting these principles, councils can become an employer of choice for the next generation.

WHY SHOULD I WANT GEN-Z EMPLOYEES?

Whilst you may not necessarily want them, you do need them. In a research paper completed by McCrindle Research Pty Ltd (McCrindle), it was found that whilst today Gen Z comprise 15% of Australia’s workforce, in a decade they will comprise one third. With this generation entering the workforce now, it is crucial for workplaces to get on board, or risk being left behind.

BECOMING AN EMPLOYER OF CHOICE

In a preliminary analysis completed by representatives of eleven Queensland local governments, recruitment duration was identified as a key constraint for councils.  Furthermore, in a study completed by American campus recruitment company Yello, it was found that 54% of Gen Z candidates say that they will not submit an application if the recruitment methods are outdated.

Attracting quality candidates is the primary objective of all employers; however, for councils the pursuit of quality often results in an arduous process for any candidate.

Streamlining this process not only markets as a benefit to Gen Z but also to the greater recruitment collective.
