Jon Ashman, Coordinator Civil Design, Livingstone Shire Council
The Propeller Program experience has made a big impact on how I view working at Local Government and also my own personal values and how they have developed throughout the course. The new relationships made with group members and officers from the 6 Councils we visited have been invaluable and have helped me understand the challenges that are faced working in regional areas and with limited budgets and resources. Being given the opportunity to work outside of my comfort zone to assist the team to deliver the 2 workshops at visiting Councils was really challenging at times but hopefully I have learnt from the experience can manage the stress better in the future. My two main values are Respect and Honesty which I believe have helped during this course, especially while working within a group remotely and understanding the different personalities and how best to communicate clearly with everyone. Below is a list of some of my favourite memories from our travels together to the regional Councils. It was genuinely the best group of people to hit the road with I want to thank Lisa and LGMA once again for this opportunity.

Burdekin Shire Council – Visit to Water Treatment plant under construction

Charters Towers Regional Council – Visit to the Towers Hill Lookout

Cooktown Shire Council – Sunset overlooking the Endeavour River at group dinner

Cooktown to Mareeba - Panoramic photo through the ranges

Cherbourg Shire Council – Visit to the Recycling facility with Andrew Beckett

Noosa Shire Council – Two of my favourite people from the group having an awkward farewell hug
