Brooke Maisey, Senior Communications Officer, Isaac Regional Council.
In the above video I describe all the things I have learnt during the Propeller Program. And something I noticed, there is more than one pro in the Propeller Program!
The poem I re-introduced myself to the team with
6 items about myself –
Music and language would be number one
To be honest I wish I could sing this to the tune of Hamilton
I want to be in the room where it happens, you see
So passion for work would be two AND three
Number 4, I am in the garden all the time,
number 5, as evident from this poem I love to rhyme (write words that sound similar to other words…)
And number 6 while I live and work in the sunshine state
My true jersey colours are blue, so no hate
About my council –
Now I move to Isaac Regional Council where I work
And can honestly say this program is a perk
A region the size of Tasmania, with 26 mines
Supplying half of QLDs royalties, we are sublime
We share our story, we constantly advocate
For improved funding models from the State
And for once in my life there is no analogy
For our quick and impressive COVID Recovery Strategy
My career to date –
Now my career to date is a patch quilt and I have no qualms
I have a marketing background that is not exactly comms
Working for a marketing agency, and a tractor dealer to boot,
I moved into a NSW Council, and that was a hoot.
But two years ago now, and almost to the day
I packed what fit into my vehicle and moved 1,400 km’s away
And lately I’ve grown, even though I think I’m an amateur,
I have spent the last couple months as acting manager!
How 2020 changed me –
2020 changed me in a number of ways,
I learnt how to cope with numerous delays.
Not seeing my family, and making my own
It surprises me the number of ways I have grown.
But most of all I have learnt I have plenty
And patience is the thing that most changed in 2020
My strengths and weaknesses –
I have numerous weaknesses, this I know
I talk too much, force too many jokes, and put on a show.
But when I am told I can be creative,
My strengths pour out and I am not derogative
I am fiercely loyal, often to a fault,
But out loud jokester is mostly my default.
I am looking forward to –
I am looking forward to working with you all again
And now I got my rhyme out I hope to be more zen.
My supportive council
A big thank you to my Director, Darren Fettell, Director Corporate, Governance and Financial Services, for contributing this video to the Cook Shire Council workshop, organised by my team, Country2Coast.
Our legendary itinerary's. Such talent.
